Privacy notice
Last updated 21 October 2026
Hartwell & Co. runs this website. This notice explains what information the site collects when you visit it or get in touch, why, how long it is kept, and how you can opt out.
What we collect
- Site analytics, only if you accept. With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to record pages viewed and interactions on the site, such as buttons and links clicked, how far down a page you scroll, use of the home page photo slideshow, and which campaign link brought you here. Google Analytics sets cookies and records general details such as your browser, device type and approximate location. It does not receive your name or the content of any message you send.
- Session recordings and heatmaps, only if you accept. With your consent we also use Microsoft Clarity, which records how pages are used, such as mouse movements, clicks and scrolling, so we can see where pages are confusing. Clarity sets cookies and records the same kind of general details as Google Analytics. Text you type into forms is masked and never recorded.
- Contact form messages. When you send the Let's Talk form, we receive the name, email address, company and message you enter, plus the page you came from and the topic you asked about.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) records basic technical details of each request, such as IP address, page requested, date and time, and browser, to keep the site secure and running.
Why we collect it
Analytics and session recordings show us which pages and topics are useful and where pages are hard to use, so we can improve the site. Contact form details are used only to reply to you and follow up on your enquiry. Server logs are used to run and secure the site. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted.
- Microsoft Clarity keeps session recordings for 30 days and heatmap data for up to 13 months.
- Server logs are kept for 90 days, then deleted.
- Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to respond to you and for any work that follows.
How to opt out
- Choose Decline on the cookie banner. Nothing is sent to Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity unless you accept. You can change your choice at any time from , also linked at the bottom of every page.
- Install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which blocks Google Analytics on every website.
